Prosecco doc or Prosecco docg: the difference

There are Prosecco DOC and Prosecco DOCG. The difference between the two different types of wine is mainly linked to a geographical factor: DOC is produced throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia and in 5 provinces of Veneto, which are Venice, Padua, Belluno, Treviso and Vicenza; while the DOCG, also called Prosecco Superiore, has a narrow radius on the Treviso hills with only two denominations, "Conegliano Valdobbiadene" and "Colli Asolani".

Prosecco are divided into:

"SPUMANTE" bottle pressure > 3.5 bar.

"FRIZZANTE" bottle pressure < 2.5 bar.

"TRANQUILLO" bottle pressure < 1 bar.

Prosecco Brut, Dry, Extra Dry: the difference

The difference between Brut, Dry and Extra Dry depends on the duration of the refermentation, which gives the sugar quantity and therefore the sweetness. The more lovable a wine is, the more it gives sweet sensations to the palate. This data suggests that Prosecco should be chosen for the different occasions.

"Dry" Prosecco: it is the sweetest and most sweet, with a sugary residue ranging from 17 to 35 grams per liter. It is still not sweet enough to accompany all types of desserts, but it can easily combine dry pastries. In this type of wine the color becomes bright straw, with a fine and persistent perlage and an elegantly fruity bouquet. Excellent with fruit, but also with mussels and seafood.
